Anyone got a recommendation for a softer sand (that wont be too abrasive for saltwater sting-rays) that also won't blow around easily with flow/powerheads since it's mixed reef. It's hard to tell the consistency of a lot of sand and the ones that do look softer I am afraid that they will suspend and blow around more in the water.

I don't have experience with stingrays, but I would stay as far away from Oolite as you can! It looks amazing, would be more than soft enough for the ray, but even my return pump pointed at the surface moved it around.

Bummer, thats exactly what I was worried about with the oolite. Thanks for sharing!

I think your best bet may be Fiji Pink. It is larger than Oolite, but finer than Special grade. It may still blow around a little, but nothing like the Oolite. I usually go for special grade in my reefs, but it may be too coarse for rays.

Awesome, these are the recommendations I've been looking for!! It's hard to see how fine each of them are
