My system is a little over a year old. I've got a couple of clowns and a Blue tang all happy :-)

I also have a few corals.

I went into the ugly system stage with soft spongy junk on my rock but i've never really come out of it. How long should it last? What's the best way to remove it and speed it up? I've got no substrate in my system so get junk on the bottom

In reading your different thread titles, I will guess that you have very little diversity in your CUC. Consider micro inverts starting with amphipods, copepods and moving on up to snails and other consumers of detritus.

After one year of posting threads with the same problems (lack of janitors) and diversity in your CUC. I suggest you start a tank journal so that information is in one place.
