I've had this piece a little over a year and its doubled in size. Just sold as a neon green leather. No skeleton, and doesn't move too much in heavy flow. Tiny polyps the same green as the flesh

Looks like a very unhappy nepthia tree coral
Moderate light (yours looks bright) and medium water flow

4 bulbs of t5 and its under a glass center brace, and a glass lid. Traditionally with my leathers I see no polyp extension when they're too high up.
It's got a slightly stiffer body to it than a nepthea as well
It also doesn't look like the other nepthea I have in the tank currently

Here's some updated pics. It seems to grow in flat lobes more than stalks. Short little polyps and is all growing from one main stalk. I've had it almost a full year now, it's about the size of a baseball

It has, it gets tiny little polyp spots on it. And I have moved it around over the year in different spots, it either shrinks up into a tight ball. Or looks like this packed tight with a spiral like growth pattern. It also needs just enough flow to keep it from growing a skin of algae

I'll also add my nitrates float between 20-30ppm tested weekly. I'm also now running 2 viparspecras (45% blue 5% white) and this is still under the glass brace, and glass top.

I have never seen a leather so ticked for so long then. Wow. My guess is something is bothering it and not allowing it to come out. I do not think that is its natural shape. Can we see a FTS?
I have had leathers stay closed for extended perriods of time due to me messing in the tank and flow not being right.
Maybe it is one I have not seen though. Very possible. I will investigate that too. :)

Hard to get one without the blinds reflecting lol. Working on curtains for that. I'm going for a softie gorg only tank for this one, and with one lfs an hour away, finding leathers, let alone a solid ID even from the wholesaler these days, is tough.

Currently winning the cyano battle though. Should have seen it last week lol Was messing with flow patterns on the gyre, and found the wrong one for sure.

I get the cyano issue. Been fighting it a while in my 210g too. It looks like all the gorgs and leathers are a bit closed up. My guess is the flow may be too linear. I have used gyros and mine died after a year and I will not go back. Just personal preference.
My 210g was gorg and leathers for years till I moved to new tank and now it is leathers/nems.
Flow is big. They want a wave and varied pattern. No direct flow. Some gorgs you have to be very careful where to place too. They have to have certain angles to flow, etc. Kind of a pain.
Could be you have not dialed in the best flow.

Also, if you could move the rock down to the sand for a bit, it could help. May not like the high light. Just till it begins to open up.

Gorgs: Looks like you ahve a Grubes' in there. They grow fast, but are easy anywhere in the tank really. I had mine very high in the tank. Your ribbon is the most picky and it looks okay for now. Keep an eye on algae build up. The plura is pretty flexible and seems fine where it is located.

Both the green leathers look a bit tight. I would try moving them down a bit to see if they will open up a bit.

Just some thoughts. Here are some of my gorgs and leathers (so you know what I am talking about). First picture is when the lps still had a chance. Second, all gorgs (over 14 species).

I will try that out. I'm going to try raising the fixtures as well once I lengthen the power cords. I agree things look a bit tight lately as I'm adjusting to the new lights.

I did not buy the white brown polyp as a grubes however and seems to have a much thicker white flesh than most grubes I've seen in person? I previously had an mp10 on that side and it enjoyed it so much that it's attached it's base to the rock, so I'm trying to work with the gyres to get a happy medium.

Didn't expect such a long learning curve on the gyres (had since xmas) and now with my bday in March I'm making the led switch. I don't usually like to change so much so fast. 3 months between swaps I didn't think would be an issue lol. It's currently set to sine wave pattern over a 5 min crest. I may turn down the max flow on the 4k and shorten the crest for a more randomized flow?

I miss my closed loop

looks shrinking finger sinularia. my green finger sinularia acting the same way right after water change.
