Here's the deal.

You can do lots of stuff without using the proper steps. You can paint a room without primer first. Close DOES count with hand grenades. You don't *have* to quarantine fish... But just because you can, and can successfully I might add, doesn't mean it's BETTER than doing things right.

Skimmers do a lot more than just clean the water. I would argue using a skimmer and just leaving the cap off so it doesn't actually skim would have a huge positive impact on your tank.
ive added it back without the top piece, the salt creep was a bit excessive. and aeration is necessary.

EDIT: i replaced some piece in the skimmer that made it not work, its working again.

I never really have salt creep like most people. After years I have a teeny tiny bit. I don't know how some people have completely frosted tanks after just a month. Must be a climate thing o.O

for my case ive been running a air stone for aeration, but its just been messing with salinity quite bad, from 1.025 to 1.023 the next test a week after.

Oh yeah, that'll def help the creep out lol.

Very nice! I had a Tomato about 25 years ago. Was actually pretty peaceful and did not bother other clowns. Sometimes they do get mean though. Your tank should be big enough to avoid that.

Congratulations on your successful interview as well!
