So is was walking into Home Depot today to pick up a few little things for the tank and the solar reps were there. I live in the SoCal desert where power is expensive and there's hardly ever a cloud in the sky. I wish I could get solar panels but unfortunately I rent. Anyway, it got me thinking. Are there solar panels you can use to power your aquarium? Not a great big unit you would put on your roof but maybe just one small unit that could go on a pole in the yard or something and just power the outlet your aquarium is plugged into. That could help on the power bill and it could be a life saver in a power outage.

I'm just curious if the technology exists. Though I'm sure if it does it's out of my price range.

I don't know of any the will meet the full requirements of powering a tank but, know of ppl that use the one below for backup of powerheads, if you have a little DIY skills I'm sure you can group a few deep-cycle marine grade batter and power others things as well.

Eventually I want to get one of those big back up batteries in case of power outages. I wonder if this could charge one of those? My DIY skills are very limited though. :)

Hey
Any update on connecting this solar panel to your tank? I just got the same system as a birthday gift. Would love to get some tips on how you did the connections.
Much thanks
