Solution to Gall Crabs

My corals seem to end up with gall crabs after gall crabs. Without even getting new corals to bring them in.

Do the eggs potentially come in my NSW?

I was wondering if there is some way to eradicate them from the tank or if there is a fish/invert that will predate on them.

Any advice would be great!

I have never experienced or seen Gall Crabs spawning in a closed system.

I would have to think the problem was introduction of corals with small specimen Gall Crabs. It takes a while for a Gall Crab to make that large of a burrow, they probably just went un-noticed until they got larger. How many Gall Crabs are there?

Google Gall Crab reproduction, apparently multiple broods can originate from one insemination.

Being that it's difficult if not impossible to raise larvae of the most commonly available hermit crabs, and other types of crabs I find it odd that Gall Crabs would be such prolific in a closed system.

I haven't gotten any new coral in probably 4 or 5 months. I also checked through the coral multiple times before I found that one due to how often I found them, and the holes seemed to come on strangely fast.
I'll look into the life cycles a little bit too.

Any ideas on ways to erradicate them? All I have left is soft corals and nems :/

Heavy dose of interceptor would probably kill them but it will also kill all other crabs and shrimp. Other than that avoid stony corals for a couple months and see it that interrupts the crabs life cycle.

I can do that, except I remembered I have a tiny Trachy that is probably 1cm across. That would ruin that plan :/
I guess I'll see how that individual coral goes then [emoji14]
