I appreciate the illustrations! Yeah my Locline tubing is too short for that I think I can barely get 1 bend out of it. :/

Another option if you’re having issues with the siphon - when I set up mine I eventually just cut the return line about 1/2” below the planned water surface. Shoots the water straight down, siphon breaks almost immediately when the pump is off, no fountains when the pump starts back up.
 
I would consider drilling multiple holes, I put 3 in mine, just in case one gets blocked, you have 2 others that can still work to break the siphon. If you don’t want to do that, it’s fine, it’s a bit overkill, but just make a routine of checking that it’s clean and brushing it with a toothbrush every couple of months.
