I have a Red Sea Max E 170, and I'm trying to find the proper pump/powerhead for solving a few flow dead spots in it. I was looking at the MP10, but it says that glass is too thick. So my next thought was the gyre 130, but I wasn't sure if that was the best option for me. I have one of the new apex controllers, so I want something I can run from that as well.

post up a fts. Its not so much about the tool you use as how a tool is used. Tank dimensions and rockwork as well as return placement are huge factors.

There is a full tank shot, the return nozzle is in line with the grommet on the right of this picture horizontally and 4 inchs above the rock work. I'll try to snap another picture later of with the return nozzle. Hard to get the underside of the rock work and it in the same picture.

Oh yea I remember your tank. Looking good. a lot more corraline than last I saw it.
Dang the MP would have looked sweet in there. My concern w the Gyre is it may just be too big for the tank.

Here are some better shots where you can see the return nozzle.

No sweat. The largest review of the gyre was over power. According to basic spec it should be. Check the dims on his tank and compare it to yours. That would look pretty slick in there too.

A Gyre 130 would be fine on that tank. I had one on my Reefer 170 and had no issues with too much flow.
