I have a 300g with a purple tang (about 6 in.), Naso (9 in), Blue Hippo (9 in) and a Desjardins (9 in.) All co-exist without issue. I had a chevron that I re-homed b/c he was aggressive as he aged.

I saw a stunning powder blue at my LFS about 6-7 inches. Would love to add but concerned with the other tangs. What do you think about adding the powder blue? (I can use the mirror in the corner of the tank to help distract the others)

Thanks

The only things that concern me are the possible aggression and the chance of Ich. Tangs are ich magnets and you don’t want your Tangs to get ich with the introduction of a new Tang.

Acclimation box maybe...... but I see no reason not to at least try.
Thanks - I have a box I use that is 18 x 14 x 12. Afraid that would just stress out the powder blue too much given that he is a good size.

Is he newly imported? I like my fish small and grow up in my tank. Wild import large tang will not do great in captive condition IMO. Hope that somebody trade him in because he outgrew their tank. That would be great for you.
PBT is my favorite tang. Good luck with him

Good feedback. I did decide to pass on it and not take the chance with the other tangs. He was also not traded in - that makes total sense though. Thanks
