So my reef has been excellent for a couple weeks now, after a month of it maturing. Today I decided to do some maintenance to get it cleaned just a teeny bit.

I am still learning the basics, but I’m getting the hang of some things. I might have probably made a mistake though (or not?), but I went and rinsed the foam for my Fluval Evo 5 and replaced the carbon. Some of the coral seem ok, but there are some that completely closed up. Should I be worried?

I feel like I went clueless and realized I rinsed the foam with tap water, I should have rinsed it with RODI / tank water.

How long after has it been since you did the maintenance?

Often after water changes and scrubbing down rocks, corals will close up but re open soon.

Washing the foam with tap water would hardly be something to worry about.

About 8 hours today. I was so used to them being open all the time. Maybe I’m over thinking it haha. It’s my first maintenance, so I was seriously wondering why the GSP decided to close up completely after that.
