Hi All,
Over the last couple of months I have noticed that some of my corals are receding and I can't seem to figure out why. It started with some of my Acan Frags, which have all died, my scoly and a big chalice I have.

They are just slowly withering away.

I have a nanobox led light and two mp40s on opposite end of my 72" tank.

The scoly is on the sand pretty much dead center of the tank and the chalice is very low to the sand all the way to one side. I have dipped the corals in both coral rx and iodine but nothing is slowing the receding. I have alot of other corals in the tank, lps, sps, and softies that are all fine.

I tested my water last night and this was the results.

pH: 8.3
Cal: 440 ppm
Alk: 175 ppm
Mag: 1280
Phos: .02
Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 0

I dose esv two part daily (40 ml split up 4 times a day).

Could my water be to clean for those corals?

Any ideas or thoughts?

How often do you do a w/c?

%?

Testing water params how often?

Were you feeding them anything? (Acans)

How often do you feed the tank?

Could be to clean...could be swings effecting them.

Tank temp? Are you running an ato or topping daily or what?

I do weekly water changes of 15 gallon of RO/DI Salt Mix (Red Sea Coral Salt Pro).

I test water params. 2 times a week.

I was feeding mysis once a week to most of my lps. I also just started using Reef Frenxy Pellets.

I feed my tank every other day with either mysis/brine. I usually put a small sheet of nori once a day for my herbivore.

Tank is 78 degrees Fahrenheit and I have an ATO connected to my apex system.

Things done really swing much in my tank.

Hmm if your feeding the tank every day I doubt the water is TO clean. Unless you have some "bananas" (crazy) filtration setup.

Did you change lights recently?

I did change from t5 to led. But the receding happened during the t5 period.

I am using the storm x controller. Whites at 1500 blues at 2500. It's on the lower side.

Well its either water quality or lighting.... I dont run that fixture so I cant speak on it.

Does the chalice have enough flow? I know your running the mp40s but I have no clue what setting or where the coral are in comparison to its flow. A mild flow is plenty...idk if you have to much flow either....

(just speaking outloud)

Yes I have the chalice in a low flow area. I am kinda perplexed.

Me too lol
so your alk mg etc are all pretty solid? Dosing to much maybe?? Was it after you set your doser up??

I split the dose up throughout the day. I have tested in morning and night and I'm not seeing large swings.

For the chalice try moving it up a little bit and getting it in a little more light. I have most of my chalices on the top of my rocks in heavy flow and strong lights and they are happy as can be. Not typical I know. For one of my more picky chalices I have it in the sandbed but have eggcrate holding the plug up off the sand a bit and it gets decent lighting. I had it in a different spot more in the shade and less flow and I almost killed it for like the 3rd time. Sorry can't be more helpful. If it's receding already can't hurt to try putting it in different spots to try and save it.

Don't know a thing about a scoly though.

You may wanted to increase water change volume and stop dosing for awhile, becasue red sea pro salt already has high ca,alk & mag
