Some form of worm or feather duster?

I hope not, I just got rid of a few of them a couple weeks ago. I thought Aiptasia was more brown and stalked?

Is this any better? Sorry everyone this is probably annoying

oh i see it! thats weird though i still can't really tell what it is...

dang well do I just take that rock out and try and get it that way?
You can dab gel super glue or kalkwasser mixed into a paster over it via syringe

Alright so I removed it and was able to get a better picture of its hole

The hole looks similar to a Christmas tree worm hole. I’m not saying that’s what you have, but if it is then it’s a good filter feeder and a neat worm.

In your last photo it does kind of look like a Christmas tree worm. This is an old photo, but here’s my yellow/orange ish Christmas tree worm open.

I can’t see any colors or really anything but from the last pic looks like aiptasia to me

I'm leaning towards a worm, not aiptasia.
One way to find out for sure is to keep the rock in an opaque container with just room lighting.
In my experience, if it's aiptasia, it will over a day or 2 crawl off the rock and up the container towards the light.

that is stunning, I’ll keep an eye on it to see if it comes out any more. Kind of excited now instead of full of dread. This must of came on the saltybottomreef rock, I keep finding cool things every time I look.

They can come in many different colors, and for some they are highly sought after. I could this little guy all alone at my local lfs. I was so excited, the owner sold it to me for $10. It was his last and was hidden under a frag rack it one of his tanks. He didn’t even know it was still there.

Ive seen photos of rocks covered in them and they are super cool.

I really hope that’s what you have, if so it’s a neat little critter.

here’s a close up from right now.
Happy reefing!
