After going around and around on lighting ideas, I think I'll go with Halide+t5. However, I am stumped on a few things halide.

I see (on BRS) Lux e-ballast can be used for 150,175 and 250. Upgrade the light with just a bulb swap sounds nice. I like the idea of using 2 halides in 2 cool tubes (the hydroponic kind) to keep heat down in the tank (Florida, although house is set 72-78f year round). But that means single ended, because the DE fixtures I see are a little wide and I cant play with t5 combos like that. I have one 5in x 12ish inch cooltube already and I like the minimal size.. if possible, I'd like to buy a second and run with it. If not, I'll find a short 6in tube.. based on what 175/250 widths are.

Qs..
Does anyone still manufacture 150w se halides? I can only find AquaVim 10,14&20k (cheap china, 20$ for 2) I got these just to play around, cheap enough, replace later. Had a 150w digi hps/mh ballast to test. 14k looks very purple. (edit: I needed a medium to mogul adapter for this too.)

Any one know what is the diameter for 175w single ends are? I can only find pdf/doc on Plusright brand (another cheapy) but am interested in better quality. After a few cups of coffee, google has let me down on finding the diameter of several other brand bulbs. Plusrights say 5in diameter (sadly, thats the diameter of the cooltube I want to use).

Same problem on finding the diameter for 250w se bulbs. (Plusrights are 5in in this wattage also)

The 150w AquaVim 14k, in the cooltube I mentioned..

Unless someone knows of pendant style aircooled DE fixtures.. (or maybe a DIY mod?) I only see vented types everywhere.

TLDR

What SE150w bulbs still exist? Anyone know the diameter of 175w and 250w single end halides?

Its the bulb size I am/was confused about. I see Ushio 400w is 1.81in, t15 style lamp.. remembering all the lamps I looked at were t15..

If I realised it sooner I would have worded the question:

Are all t15 style lamps all 1.81 inch?

Which, as I can tell for the most part

yes

I was looking for 150W SE bulbs the other day and didn't find any good brand...
Grandis.

Are you asking about the diameter of the glass? If so, then they are all a bit different.

Some of the best bulbs are Radium 20K, XM and Hamilton - look those up to see the different sizes.

Hamilton
175w: 8x2x1.8 [info: amazon]
250w: 8.2x2x1.8 [info: amazon]

Radium
175w:
250w: 46mm (1.81)x 210mm (8.3) [info: aquarium specialty]

XM
175w: 10.25x1.75x1.75 [info: aquarium specialty] (that descriptor seems wrong, maybe mixed up and states DE dimensions?)
250w: (same as 175w, still think description might be wrong)

Reeflux
175w:
250w:

Ushio
175w:
250w:

Giesemann
175w:
250w:

This is far as I got so far with this mornings coffee; Will continue later. So far they seem to be simular sized as t15 basic dimensions.

Ushio [info: pdf from Ushio]
175w: 46 (1.81) x 211 (8.3)
250×: 46 (1.81) x 225 (8.85)

and.. cant find the others. But its a start.

It does look like all will fit in the cool tube.

Odd how Plusrights pdf states 5in. Must be a typo. That is what started off my confusion.

Ordered a second cool tube, hopfully I can get to making the stand/canopy soon.
