I ha e this leather coral not sure what kind it is..but i never fully expands..i have notice that towards the base of the stock it is brown. I have some kenya tree and another soft coral not sure that kind either but they are always fully expanded and have polyps out...if anyone has any insight that would be helpful

Ooooo he's not happy. U can clean the algae gently with a clean brush. And then I would suggest an area of high flow and hope that pulls him outta his current state.

Ok i will give that a try...its not like brown slim or something?

Toadstool...and I think its just algae. Should come off.
But dont toadstool have longer extend polyps? On this coral the polyps don't extend at all they are kind of like the polyps on the montipora cap

My guys Polyps def extend out. Lighting and flow - they seem to like both.

Hmmmmm...ok imo they don't look the same...that coral is on the top of my tank is think he love the light right there...and ya the flow is good. Any more flow and he shrivels up...

I have found they can take pretty subpar water conditions but you should run a full test and check for everything from Temp to Salinity and NH3 etc. do you have Temp controller? Lots of tanks have Temp spikes.

Check all of your parameters including your temperature for any coral that has been in the tank for longer than a week and is showing signs of distress that usually means something is wrong with your water and not necessarily flow or lighting

Ok i will check when I get home later...ill keep you posted

There r a couple varieties of toadstool some polyps are longer....could also b a devils finger.

I think it is either a Sinularia finger leather coral or maybe a Lobophytum like Jason´s. Since it has more open polyps than Jason´s and I can´t see the smaller type of polyps that appear as brownish spots between the opened polyps I guess it´s a Sinularia finger leather coral.
