Just got the tank home today an got the live rock in an found this little guy

Ok so it’s a pest. For now I shall let him live since it’s the only one I’ve found.

Yes, they can be considered a pest once there are a lot. Some reproduce quickly, I have two in my tank that I leave alone, unless they multiple then I’ll remove them. Although it’s fun watching them move across the glass when you get a close look.
 
He really isn’t doing nothing. The water to me was really cold but I just moved the tank 40 some miles, an I put a thermostat on it so now I’m waiting for the water to get up to temp “78F”
 
Ok, there are a couple types of Asterina stars, if you see them on the glass all the time they are the algae eating type. I f you see them on rocks or on your Zoa, they are the pest type and will eat Zoas.

Well this tank has never had corals in it. It’s been seasoned now for 15 years. This wasn’t a tank they sold corals from just a couple pieces of live rock an fish.
