Some mangrove questions….

Hey guys, so I’m vacationing currently on the gulf coast in Florida and there are mangrove propagules scattered all over the beach. I was hoping to take some back home with me to NY and try to grow them in my home. Is this feasible? What is the best way to transport them on the airplane (not sure if it’s even allowed). Also, how long do they survive out of the water? There are many on the beach that still appear green but they aren’t in the water, I’m not sure if these can still grow, or if they are dead. Any advice is appreciated.

have no clue about legality...found mine floating... came home by car over several days in a ziplock bag with a wet paper towel...put a slice of pool noodle on the top and floated it in the tank under a home depot led grow light bulb...lives in the sump now has about a foot of roots...couple years old

Awesome!! I actually called the Florida wildlife department lol and they said they don’t know of any laws prohibiting it in this county.

good to know...now could you call the bahamas and ask about that rock that came home in a suitcase...
