Need some help! Was gluing some frags that were on my frag rack pulled a stag off the rack and the back was gone. Upon inspection the skin of the Acro was gone and and there was about an 1/8 inch gap were it almost looks like it died then started to grow again. also found on the dead part what looks like gold eggs in small bunches and a few black dots. sorry don't have a good camera that takes close up pic's. Will try to get some Pic's

Thanks
Mike

Make sure you scrape them off and check all your other acropora to see if they got them as well. Most likely they are aefw eggs.

thanks that's it! I see that is an old post is there a better way now? the one that i found with it I took out of the system, not knowing what was going on did not want to take a chance.

I hear a dip with bayers is pretty much the only way to deal with AEFW and Red Bugs as a one dip and done thing, but it doesn't kill the eggs.

Here is a link to BRS's most recent Pest Video where they talk about them...

Bi-weekly dips are the best way to combat AEFW's. Good luck!

Oh...and if you DO find eggs (dark gold clusters) I usually super glue right over them to encapsulate the cluster. That, close inspection during dips (I use CoralRX), and heavy use of a turkey baster during dips, will help eradicate these pests.
