Some type of clove polyp?

I just noticed these a couple of days ago. Originally thought it was some kind of algae growing but the tangs never touched it. Upon closer inspection I realized it's all little tiny polyps. How do I get rid of them or will they eventually go away on their own? The two areas I can see are about 3" square and their on the center branching rock in my tank.

Thanks. I was concerned they may be some type of pest that would spread everywhere.

Nah, they are cool actually, good ground cover..

Yikes! Those look like Blue Clove polyps IMO. A lot of horror stories out there regarding these things. I removed mine years ago, but they still keep popping up here and there. One of the worst corals I've ever added to my tank.

Fun fact: They are NOT related to cloves at all! Sarcothelia edmondsoni is more closely related to regular ol' Anthelia glauca than to any other coral!

If those are the same ones I had they will eventually take over a tank and kill stony and soft corals.
