Some type of worm?

Hi all, after several years this worm decided to come out its hiding place and explore. Anyone know what it is and is it harmful? When it extends and retracts it has a telescoping effect with the side unfolding. It is also light sensitive as it retracts when I shine a flashlight on it. Thanks in advance!

Could be a peanut worm which is harmless.

Nope - that looks like a very happy peanut worm to me.

I don’t know if it’s harmful, but it almost looks cute compared to a fireworm or bristleworm…

Either a peanut worm or Priapulida worm. Both are scavengers and peanut very good cleaner eating uneaten food and detritus
