So I have these awesome yellow zoas, and they hate me. They're open, but not really happy.
I have 3 little groups on one rock, some on the top, some on the bottom, some in the middle.
The ones on the bottom don't open much, but have shown growth :)
the ones in the middle are dying slowly, but have maybe 2-3 healthy polyps, and there's an aiptasia :( (gonna cover that with some coral putti)
the ones on the top aren't dying, but aren't growing much either.

My nitrates are 15, everything else is fine, but I have been blasting my lights. So lowering that, seeing how not only these are dying, but my gold torch has lost some colour.

So any guesses?

Your on the right track with lowering your lights. See how that works. I only know what I've read from others. Personally I can't keep zoas alive for nothing-lol. Been trying for 5yrs!

I'll see how they do then :) not being able to keep zoas though, how do you manage O_O

It's been a struggle-lol. ATM I have 1 lil frag of zoas from my original colony. Bought 5yrs ago. They have been the only ones I've been able to keep.

You need some po4. You can come get some from my tank if you like. I have plenty extra. It's free. :)

Keep tryin!
My torches get dull if i blast them with light. That might be your problem
Lowered lights and torch seems to be doing better ^_^

Your nitrate is 15 so you could have high phosphate also, try to reduce both of them down to minimal to proven their health.

Tested it already, phos is at 0.
Also yes I'm trying to lower nitrate, it's going slowly but it's happening.

Zoas need phosphates so if it's at 0 that can cause problems as well
It's a mixed reef so I don't wanna go bumping up nutrient levels that most corals don't like.
I noticed n aiptasia on their rock! :frusty: Maybe that's it.
If all else fails, I'll buff up phosphates.
