Me, I dose my ATO 1 1/2 tsp per gallon of calcium hydroxide (kalkwasser)into fresh water in my ATO or the amount that I put in it to fill it based on what's left in it.
I then adjust my calcium (which is not often) and alkalinity (which is often) on need above and beyond what the kalkwasser provides.
I do it this way solely this way to help buffer PH swings in my system. Works well for me. Your mileage may vary.
