I think I killed everything in my tank first time in the saltwater aquarium. started with a marineland 150 for a 29 gallon tank everything went ok for the first cycle. Bought my first corals and fish.. another week everything ok...out of nowhere nitrate out of control, and water very cloudy switch to a fluval c4 but now I see one of my clown fish a the bottom of my tank. did I just started all over by switching filters

depending on how the filtration was if it was a drop in filter you got rid of some bacteria but the tank has live rock in it rite so you should be ok in there if you swapped out like carbon pad or phosphate pad that could cloud up the water. Also for the swing in your tank with nitrates your tank is new so it will fluctuate from time to time.Till it well established if you have nitrate reducer you can use that to bring it down and i would check ammonia levels.Do you have a pair of clowns if so it could be submitting to one another.

My tank gets cloudy from time to time still but i am dosing more closer to the specs of my tank now i have a reef tank so i add some supplements daily.

funny thing is that my nitrate is lower with the new power filter and it has a different set form the old power filter so I couldn't really switch the filters from one to another

yeah I bought the clowns in a pair the big one is ok the little one is the one at the bottom of the tank

oh yeah it is full of live rock

it has been up since October I have already cycled but my water keeps getting cloudy so I switched my power filter from a marineland 150 to a fluval c4 my nitrate and all that is much better now with the fluval c4 but my one of my clown fish is acting weird

First, there's nothing harmful about cloudy water by itself - just a bacterial bloom. The fact that your fish are showing signs means something is going on though.

By your equipment choices it seems like this system might have been converted from freshwater.

Do you have anything for water flow besides the cannister?

How about a protein skimmer?

FYI, filters such as yours do nothing for nitrate so double check your testing procedure.

While your live rock can process some nitrates, generally, water changes or another method are required to lower nitrates quickly enough to be noticeable.

Also, your rock looks VERY clean -was it live or dry when you got it?
