Hey everyone, I went on vacation and picked up this piece at a FS in myrtle beach, the owner wasn't there and the guy that was working couldn't ID it, he gave me the whole rock and whatever this coral is for only $25, it's been in my tank almost a week now, all my other corals looks great and are thriving, perimeters are great, I'm not sure what this coral is and if it's suppose to extend etc. can someone please inform me about this coral and where it should be in your tank, feeding, lighting, flow, etc. Thanks!

I may be wrong, but that looks like a carnation coral to me. They are nonphotosynthetic filter feeder that are expert only in care level

Dendronephthya sp.
night feeding, filter feeder, and non-photosynthetic.
Because Dendronephthya corals do not have any zooxanthellae they depend on copious amounts of zooplankton and phytoplankton to keep alive
The Carnation Coral is very difficult to care for and should be left to the experts.
