Maybe it left its shell because it outgrew it and was looking for another one. My guess is one of your other CUC’s went cannibal on it.

Could be a molt... I am always seeing hermit crab legs floating or laying around from when they molt..
And when they molt... it looks exactly like a little dead hermit skeleton

Attached is a photo of one of my sally light foot molts...besdies being dried out.. it looks exactly like the living version

Very few snails and one other Scarlett. On top of the shrimp. I can’t find anything saying any of them would exhibit this behavior? Ocean life I suppose.

You’re probably right.

Hopefully that’s all it is. My blenny is active and out and about in his new home. Where he was always hiding here. Hoping I don’t have a bully.

Thanks guys

Probably just molted, the legs in particular can look like the real thing whereas the molted body is translucent making it easier to tell it’s just a molted “shell”

If you dont have extra shells in the tank LA has empty shells for sale on their site as well as michael’s craft store. Ime without them any snails and other hermits are just eventual hermit food.

Thank you. For some reason I was led to believe the Scarlett’s grow their own? Idk. No excuse. Ordered some shells

It's hard to find good shells for hermit. LFS usually carry these hideous brightly painted shells and priced like gold....:). If that's the case, check out Michael's or any art and craft store. They are way cheaper.

My local petco told me that saltwater hermits grow there own shell... and I believed him (I was brand new in the hobby)

Big sally molted... hard to tell in the tank pic... but it's considerably bigger than the old molt..

Btw.. that's mud in my steering wheel...
