Something better than Locline?

Is there something better than Locline for returns that gives flexibility but also the option of 1”?

Vivid Creative Aquatics makes locline in one inch (they call it modular hose) but no ends for it other than there RFGs. They do make a 1" to 2 3/4" locline adapter.. as well as a 1" to 3/4" straight adapter.

What did you do on your tank?

Tank is still currently dry but all my outlets are 1" and I'll be using 4 of there 1" to 2 3/4" adapters. As well as a few of there RFG's mixed in with different style locline ends.

Or you can just use a couple of black 1" PVC 45 elbows to give you almost unlimited articulation. I stopped using locline years ago - it increases velocity, yes, but it reduces overall flow. Not a good tradeoff IMO.

That’s a great idea. Do you just drop the pvc pipe with the elbow on it just under the surface and leave the elbow wide open as is?

My tank is in wall, overflow on back left wall and the tank is viewable from front and right side.

I was thinking of doing two - 1 inch returns terminating on the right side shooting toward the left side.

What do you think?

Do you know of the 1 inch Modular hose has a larger inner diameter than the 3/4 inch Locline?

That I'm not sure I would hazard a guess as that it is because the measurements should be taken from the ID... @Vivid Creative Aquatics any insight here?

Will this -

Screw into this?

Yes - the 1in MPT fitting should thread directly into the 1in version of theses elbows. Our 1in RFG (RFGS100LL) nozzles come with the threaded fitting.

We have a 1in modular hose that we buy from a supplier, and unfortunately the inner diameter is closer to 3/4in than 1in. However the threaded 1in MPT fitting from the same supplier that fits the 1in modualr hose, does in fact have a 1in ID

Darn I was actually the guy that bought those two hoses from you the other day. My thought process was that the 1 inch modular a hose would be a better option than the 3/4 loc line since I assumed it was less restriction.

the ID is slightly larger than the 3/4in Loc-line hose ID - it' sjust not a full 1in, so it will be somewhat less restrictive. Plus it works directly with 1in RFGs, which create a really nice, wide flow pattern - wider than the 3/4in RFGs.

Okay good. Just want to make sure that I went with the best option for flow since it’s a new build and I’m not trying to retrofit anythjng.

Thank you for getting that out to me so quickly!

I received the 2 RPG’s from BRS and I look forward to seeing how they work!
