Hi! So lately I've been watching my candy cane coral, as it's shown something coming off it's one side. It almost looks like a small tube, it's grown a little bit since I've watched it over the past few weeks. Any help in knowing what it might be is greatly appreciated!

Thank You,
Josett Waid

Might be a vermetid snail. Are you able to take the coral out and feel to see if it's hard shell? If it is you can either remove it and put super glue on the base or put super glue on the hole of the tube.

I touched it and the tube was hard, also there's something red in it! As I touched it, it went back inside the tube.

Sounds like a vermetid snail. They can irritate your corals with the web they cast to feed. They can reproduce quickly too. I would personally remove it. Easier if you can remove the coral and do outside the tank. If not just super glue the opening and it'll die.

Alright once I get back home I'll do that, I don't wanna take any risks on it being something bad. So yeah I'll take the coral out and cut the tube a little and super glue it. I haven't seen any on the other corals so far and that one coral has been in my tank for about a month, so hopefully I got lucky and it hasn't spread.

These usually attach to a rock base, so peek around your rock work. Some will look smaller almost like a feather duster tube.

Um I've seen some like heads here and there with just the tops that look like feather dusters on one other coral. I can try to take a pic later in the day but they don't have tubes and just the heads of what looks like a feather duster.

To be honest this coral has a lot of problems with it. I was just thinking that it also has this green stuff growing on it, almost like sea weed kinda.. I'll take a pic of that also when I get home.

Put some super glue or bond over it and it'll die. They spit out a mucus filament that's irritating to corals.

Ok I was able to get two pictures of the other things on the same coral.
One is the green stuff I was talking about and the other is the feather duster type thing that I have no clue what it is..

Well I took the coral out and broke off the tube and super glued the hole and found another small one and did the same thing to that. Also just went ahead and took off what ever that green stuff was.
