Well here I go, yesterday I was setting up two more smaller QT's aside from the bigger ones. I ended up not having time (I know, shame on me) to order some H.O.B filters for them, being a sunday there was one store open, so I ended up in Petco. Luckily their marine section is long gone so I didn't have to talk to someone to try and fix it. I found these two, actually Petco branded, hang on backs. They were cheap but I've been fairly impressed with them so far. For the price point, pretty sleek little filters, and also with that I don't want to hear any more "I don't have the money for a QT" complaints with things like this around. I think they were $15. So there we go, a lovely surprise of something I like at Petco.

You say luckily. Hope you're referring to that particular store. There's 2 petcos by me and 1 carries salt the other does not. The one that does is very well kept. Way better than the LFS down the street even. I'm hoping petcos practices will be getting better now that they've bought DF&S. I'm thinking they will because a few weeks ago I was in there and there was a fish that didn't have any information on it. They actually had an iPad sitting there for the employees with live aquaria to get the facts.. Which is what I do when I need some quick info on a fish.. Any they they keep there tanks really clean, I haven't seen any sick fish and all for our area it's one of the few remaining options left.. It would be devastating to the hobby if they stopped selling fish.. Not so much for me as I'm stocked and I'm not the kind of guy that constantly needs a new supply. But I want to see new kids enter the hobby :).

I did say luckily, and for now I was referring to Petco in general. I realize they have an opportunity to improve here but Petco isn't known for their husbandry practices. I don't think it would be too bad if Petco left the marine section out of their stores unless they hired on a dedicated employee who knows what they're doing to care for it. In my opinion, it could be far worse if they started stocking up their marine sections just because they now own DF&S. There's a lot of people trying to hurt this hobby, and there's more and more bills they're trying to pass to stop collection. Imagine the ammo they'd have if they could show this huge chain bringing in tons of fish because they now own another huge store, but every one of them dies in store within a week because they don't care for them. That, could be devastating. I say unless they want to do a major overhaul on the way they care for them, then their marine sections should just stay empty.
