Something eating my duncan or is something else going on?

Out of curiosity, where did you end up with this? I have a similar issue right now - even similar livestock. There's new heads growing on each side and the Duncan is open all day... Happily eating. I grabbed this pic late at night while it's closed up and you can see it's basically the same thing.

That really does look similar! We're over a year out from my original picture and although the tissue did recede most of the way up the base, it stopped short of the heads and the coral has continued to open up big every day like normal. I haven't had any significant growth, but the existing heads all look healthy, so I've just decided that as long as it keeps opening and eating well, I won't worry too much. It's still strange because I have a second Duncan in the tank from a different source and it has normal healthy-looking tissue on its base and is growing to pest proportions! No idea, really.

Interesting, guess I will just keep an eye out. I was wondering if my Halloween hermit did it but he's been such in one place for a week now (molting). I have a fire shrimp that loves to pull food from the Duncan but I've never seen him every harass it other than Feed time if I didn't directly give him some mysis too hah.
