hey guys i’ve been seeing these weird looking things just chilling on my zoas like this never seen them in my life, they look like pods when viewing from the top down but i don’t know what they are. last time i saw them i took the zoas out and put them in a dip. a whole bunch of what looked like pods came out from where they’re glued and i took a couple of the ones that were chilling on the stem out with a pipet to look at with my future microscope. now they are back. anyone know what’s going on here???

I see whisker looking things on the stalks, is that what you mean? If so, compare them to digitate hydroids to see if they match.

I agree they look like hydroids. I’m not sure if any type of dip would take care of them, someone else may know? The hydroids I had were on rocks so I scrubbed them off but you can’t really scrub the zoa...maybe try and pluck them off?

thanks for the feedback. what i ended up doing was making the dip much longer (10-12mins) and i scrubbed the zoas lightly with a toothbrush + a makeup brush and plucked as many as i could see prior to doing this. i’m hoping it worked but it was also suggested that i do a hydrogen peroxide dip so i will definitely do that if they’re still there.
