Something in my hammer?

Evening people! Feeding my coral this morning, and as I was turning off pumps ect... I saw this feather duster like tube coming out of my hammer, it’s got 2 slightly stringy ends coming out of it?
what is it?

In have these in my fuge, they don't seem to bother anything. Spinoid worms I believe

Ahh cool thankyou, harmless filter feeder then? As long as it’s not going to crawl out of the tank at night and murder everyone in sleep!

Is the tube soft and sandy or hard? does it seem to be bothering the coral?

Spinoids are reef and family safe imo.

I don’t think it’s bothering the coral, it’s like a hard tube, bassicly the same as a feather duster

Having looked into this ( it was bed time around this time last night for the uk) I think you could be right, I do have small white snail like shells in and around the tank!

Vermitid have these tubes that make a web and it annoys the corals

I don’t know if I’m looking at 2 separate problems, I have quite a few tiny white snail shells all over the back wall of the tank, am I right in thinking that’s not coming from whatever is coming out of the hammer?

You could be since vermitid like hiding and they stick their tube out, the literal thing that could be attached could be below, if its not a vermitid then idk what it is.
