Woke up this morning and noticed 1/4 of my hammer coral is missing. Something has eaten it down to the skeleton. Possible suspects are the two Coral Beauty Angelfish, hermit crabs, or snails. I wouldn't suspect the other fish or the 4 urchins. None of the other corals have been bothered before.
Ideas?

It is most likely the coral beauties, mine went on a coral rampage and I had to take it out. Was very difficult to catch.

But I have read about tangs eating arms off of euphilia, but I've never seen it with my three tangs.

Why would they start doing this all of a sudden? I am an over feeder! They can't be hungry.

I just got rid of a coral beauty that was starting causing problems with the coral in my tank. I had him for almost 3 years and he was fine...then all of a sudden POOF! I also have a Powder Blue Tang that is picking at my euphilia.

You just never know when these fish get hungry for corals. But thats just natural for them.

It just comes out of nowhere, I had mine for at least over two years if not over three, then all of a sudden he was a coral terror angelfish. I guess once they start eating it a little bit they can't stop. His colors look great and enhanced while eating coral though. I feed my tank heavy too, I thought that would keep it from happening but it didn't and I will never put an angelfish in a reef again.
