Something is killing my fish...

Any chance these fish died from disease or infection, and then other critters ate on the corpse?
Not saying there isn't somthing attaching the fish just making sure all possible causes are being thought of.
thats def a bite out of the mandy.

No. It happened way too quickly. Plus all the fish that have died / disappeared are bottom and cave dwellers.

Given that brittle (and other) stars have no teeth that I'm aware of, (It'd be cool if I was proven wrong here!) I can't imagine one taking a bite out of something.

Stars generally ingest whole prey items or evert their stomach to digest prey outside their bodies.

I've seen the big green brittle stars capture floating krill with an arm and - quite dexterously - reel it in to their mouth, so I can see where they might capture a fish, but not how they'd capture _part_ of a fish.

I am quite sure that I myself have been "bitten" by one before. I found a green serpent as a hitchhiker--tough little bugger, the rock was left to dry for like 40 min--and it was kinda small. I foolishly played around with it till it got onto my arm, and :

..the smaller, tiny red dot, not the stitches..

Be this as it may, however, I can't fathom one grabbing a fish like a mandarin and takin a chunk right out.. kinda scary if it's true though.

If you think it may be a eunicid worm, have you found any areas around rocks that have what looks like slime or mucus?
Have any coral been chewed on?
What is this eunicid worm? Good or bad? I'm new at this and I just found some stuff like that on two rock.

I have no experience at all with fish disease diagnosis. The chunk missing out of the mandarin kinda reminds me of hole in the head. My guess is parasite/fluke just to put it out there!

Following along! It could be anything though! Hope it all works out!
