I'm running the 2 part Calc n Alk from BRS. The problem is I'm dosing 7 part ALk to 1 part Calc and I still cant seem to get my Alk up. This doesnt seem right to me. I can never get my alk to go above 8. I use rodi for ATO with no buffer or kalk. Any idea what is going on?

Parameters:
Calc: 480 API and Salifert
Alk : 7-8 API and Salifert
Mag: 1450 Salifert

I've actually checked the calc and alk with another reefer and got the same results. Only thing I didnt double check was the Mag. What is the normal calc to alk ratio? I've read it was 1:1 but have seen some people with 2:1.

Try to keep your calcium at 375 - 400 you may be over shooting if you are at 480. This can cause your alk to drop. It is a balancing act you can't have both at high levels. My tank is Ca @ 420 dKH @ 9, I don't use a 2 part. I use Seachem's aquavitro Ca if needed. One 11.8 oz bottle last a long time.
