so my corals and Nemones have been extremely unhappy all week. Recessed polyps etc. I just moved my tank last weekend into a reefer 525xl.

A move is very stressful. I’m guessing things will get better. I would check for ammonia frequently but likely wait it out.

I’ve never used prime so I can’t say. However, that particular test kit, IME, never reads below 0.25 according to my eyes. Certainly if it gets higher, do a water change. I would not worry about pH for now.

I agree with the above post. API isn’t accurate for ammonia. I would go with a different test kit. As for pH, I don’t even test it, so I wouldn’t worry about it for now. Just do a water change and you can use prime.

Looks like you're using an Api test kit? I've found depending on the lighting a reading of 0 can look like 0.25. I'd recommend testing a fresh batch of salt mix to compare.

Haha. That Hanna checker is for alkalinity, not pH.

Are the lights at a different height? Maybe ramp down for a bit to acclimate

b) Prime is OK, but likely unnecessary due to API kit

Not sure what size you upgraded from, but your nitrates seem to have been diluted out. You might try dosing if you have any Neonitro or equivalent.

What is water temperature?
Are you using Tap water or RO water ?
Readings for Mag and Calcium?
Type of lighting?


API test kit, less than reliable. If able to, take a large water sample to a trusted LFS and have them test : Ammonia, nitrate, ph and Salinity to verify your readings and to compare with your test results.

Im suspecting salinity is off as well as PH and possible lighting issue.

All fish are fine, active and eating all week. Only coral and anemones are having issues.
