Hi all! Im having some meaty corals being picked / killed by a fish. I lost 2 scolymia, 1 fungus corals.

My main suspects are a filefish that I used for an aitapsia infestation and the bicolor blenny.

Are this fish that problematic?

Thanks in advance.

It could be the file fish. I doubt it’s the bi color blenny though. Are their any other fish in the tank?

Whenever I see fish like the file fish, Copperband Butterfly fish or other fish that tend to pick at corals. I always recommend to keep that fish fed very well, be ok with losing some corals and or get rid of it.

It’s always a hit or miss with fish that can eat coral. Some do and some don’t. Best of luck!

Do you have shrimp?
Inspect the coral and look for burrows. Could be gall crab.

I don’t know If the fish is the problem

Any pictures?

My money is on that file. They're pretty bad to go after LPS once the aiptasia get sparse. You can keep them well fed, but their natural behavior is to pick at what's on the rocks. Hard to break them of that

Yeah I will have to move it from the main tank and see. It also notice the clam being picked at the mantel.

Time for him to move
