I've finally captured a picture of one of the things that seems to be associated with my acros dying. I've attached an image of the "colony" in question. You can see that some of it is turning bone white, which was not the case for several months. This is happening to other acros nearby too. I have a small frag of this that had encrused on another plug and is showing the same signs - namely turning white at the edges and having these white speckles on the flesh. I put it under a disection scope and saw these strange egg casings on the coral itself. Any idea what it is? Is this what is eating my acros? something certainly seems to be.

Hard to say for sure. I can tell you that is not what aefw eggs look like, so you got that going for you.

Clarify for us: in the image your are referring to the elongated oval shaped thing, right? Or the white goopy stuff to the right of that?

You could try looking up images of tegastes acroporanus and see if you can find a match on your acropora. They are commonly known as Red bugs, but apparently there are black and white versions as well although I have yet to see a magnified image of one.
