Hi all,

I recently set up a new saltwater tank after many years out of the hobby. We cycled the tank for 6 weeks and made sure all levels were good before adding two clownfish. I became pretty concerned with them right away when they started having stringy white poop. I took photos to the LFS and asked if it was internal parasites and they told me that was very unlikely in captive-bred clownfish and it was more likely a change in diet. I took the photo to another LFS and got the same explanation. I also noticed they had very bumpy heads but didn't think anything of this. a couple of weeks later I notice that the dominant clown, is now showing signs of submission before hiding and a few hours later he is dead. It's been almost two weeks and I'm still really concerned for my remaining clownfish. He seems happy enough but the bumps on his head are getting worse. I've attached a photo where you can kind of see the shadows on his head.

What do you think this is?

water parameters are all good and water changes are done weekly.

I’m very sorry for your loss :(. I can’t really see the bumps in the photos. That could be internal parasites however, which might explain the loss of your fish.

Sorry for your loss. Are the bumps white or are they kinda translucent?

When you setup your new tank, did the corals or anything else that's "wet" get quarantined or dipped or both?

Sounds like possible flukes and internal parasites. Have you tried a fresh water dip? If not...try that first if you can catch them and go from there. Doesn't appear to be Brooklynella.

The corals were all dipped with Coral RX.

The fish weren't quarantined because they are the only fish so no chance of them spreading anything to any other fish. But I've been looking back at my photos and it looked like the bumps were there the day we got the fish.

I think they are white, they are the same colour as the white band. And really they aren't so much bumps as indents really.
