Pineapple sponge won't hurt anything just shows tank is healthy
Lol it doesn’t seem healthy, got a small breakout of possible dinos and my phos is 0 so getting a proper water test today to check.

Yes, it’ll be ok or you can manually remove it if you’d like but it’s not harming anything.
Thanks. I was considering removing the whole frag as I was told palys can be toxic. Which I didn’t know when I handled it.

Paly’s can be toxic but those look like zoas. Besides, I have a rock that has a bunch of paly’s on it. I’ve grazed them with the back of my hand before and have never gotten a reaction, of course I also don’t think I’m allergic to anything. From my understanding, they only release toxins when super stressed.

That’s the thing about this hobby and the names given to corals…..virtually no regulation. One Vendor calls one coral one thing and another calls the same coral something else and whichever sticks is what the coral is mostly called especially when it comes to zoa/paly’s.

Zoas definitely a keep,if those are palyhoas they definitely grow like weeds

Yep just going on what I was sold ‍
I get it, which is why books are your best friend in this hobby. When I started in this hobby we only had books and general names for corals, which were more descriptive and basic. I can't tell you how many times I've seen vendors or LFS misidentify corals or animals (and basic animals that anyone who's been in the hobby for a while should know). There are tons of great used books that you can buy now that can help you identify corals and reef animals, and they're fairly cheap considering.
Happy reefing and enjoy your new critters!
