Hey there. One of my clowns has something stuck to his fin. Looks like lint to be honest but might be a scale? Do i need to do something to remove it?

Thanks for taking some time to help. I don't think this is ick... It's like there's something stuck to his fin. He's a hard bugger to photograph.

Have you added anything (livestock or rock or used equipment) recently?

Well, it's all sort of recent. This is a new 20 gal high started back on Jan 22nd. All new equipment (tank, filter, heater). Fish (2 clowns) were added 1 week ago. Tested the water yesterday and all levels (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates) were 0.

But no used equipment, rock was added around Jan 29th cured from a LFS, and the only other livestock are 2 mex turbo snails, and 2 hermits.

Re: loki2902's 120 gallon escape

Ick . Get melafix marine asap or it can get worst . Reef safe been there done that

It's not ich it is a fungus. You can catch him and peel it off with your finger nail, then put some tea tree oil on the spot with a Qtip. More preferred, you can leave it alone. 95 percent of the time it will resolve itself in a few weeks.

i was just gonna say it might be fungus.. or isopod.. but again cant really see what it is in the pics. i too would just let it be and see what it does in a couple of weeks.

Pick him up and peel it off with your finger nail ? Seriously , just treat with melafix marine it will be gone in 2 days why risk it too "professional opinions" from a blurry picture

Thanks, everyone. I was sure it wasn't ich because it's not really ON his fin, it's more hanging off the rear edge of it. I tried to take the best photo I could, but he's the hyper one in the tank, and I wasn't going to bust out the DSLR for this.

I just didn't know if it was safe to try and handle him to remove it. That's what I'll try after waiting a bit more to see if it just comes off itself. Thank you all for looking at it for me.
