Something to worry about?

My clowns are as crazy as ever. 100%.

Wow. save that pic for the next contest!

+2 @Adam113 Your clownfish have the early stages of brook: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/brooklynella.247938/

No doubt about it after your most recent photos.

Thank you to everyone!

I just don't see the "mucous" part either time. The first sighting (which went away) was almost two months ago. Would brook just go away without any other symptoms being seen? These two (Mac and Cheese) do go in and out of tight spots all the time, so the damage or debris is what I chalked it up to before.

I'm going to order the meds as I read that it's very common with clowns, and I love my two clowns! Is there anything else I should look for besides the white spots for me to really confirm 100% it is brook?

Please update your treatment for Mac and Cheese. I'm watching, learning. I may face the same issue and would like to know what to expect.

My clown fish showed some signs then it cleared up for almost a month then came back. I would get meds as quick as possible. Best of luck I hope mac and cheese pull through.

I also see that brook kills fast, like within days. Wouldn't they have other symptoms in two months?

Mine didn't and never had any extra mucous. I was able to save one of mine with the help of humblefish. Fresh water dips helped until I could get the meds.

It's possible their immune system is building up temporary immunity, but is unable to completely overcome the parasites. Which is why you are seeing symptoms come & go.

Where the heck do I order the stuff? Can't find it anywhere.

Looks to be almost gone? Is there somewhere to buy the straight up 37% formaldehyde?

Anybody else have opinions on this stuff? Want to get something ordered today and here tomorrow or Tuesday.

As @Barrett said, Rally (acriflavine) is less harsh than using formalin, but sometimes you have to use Metronidazole (in a QT) to finish the job.

Formalin is much more likely to clear brook after just one 45 min bath, but it is a toxic chemical. However, most clownfish handle it just fine.

See blue links above for more detailed info on each treatment.

I read your post on the treatments. Is this the quick cure you wrote about? Good choice??
