Somethings wrong with my naso tang

I’ve had my naso tang close to 3.5 years. He has been eating like a pig. I got him from my LFS as an infant fish. I’ve seen him growing up. I feed him 3times daily with dry/frozen food in small quantity. Sea weed 3times per week.

Nowadays, I see him sitting at the bottom of my tank. This morning he neglected to eat his favorite food, else he would be the first one to munch on it. What’s wrong with him? I don’t want to lose my hope on him yet. I don’t see white spots/fungus on his body, or any sign of illness. Should I quarantine him for treatment? I don’t know what I’m treating him for. All other fish are doing great in the tank.

I’ll post water parameter tonight. But from my knowledge everything has stayed stable for a very long time. I’ve not added a single fish in past 10mon for so.

I don t want to be that guy, but.....How big of tank is that? looks terribly small for a naso.

behavoir could easily be caused by stress.

How long has he been like this? Got any other fish that could stress him out?

@C. Eymann , I agree with you. Perhaps, picture may not be doing justice. It’s 100g tank reef ready tank. Well, I don’t want to say it a huge tank, but it’s not a desktop tank either.

I don't wanna be that guy either but I believe Naso's require a minimum of 200 gallons.

I have to agree that the tank is too small. A 6' ft tank is min requirement bc nasos get large. If hes been healthy to this point and you havent added anything that could potentially brought in a disease, I would say his behavior is due to stress.

This is super helpful. I want him to survive, so I may have to check with LFS or someone for a trade. Perhaps, for a store credit. I hate to see him go, raised him, have seen him grow over years.

I know it's hard to let a fish go. I get it. You could at least put some feelers out, see if anyone is interested locally before calling the lfs. That way you know it'll go to a nice big tank rather than sitting in another, smaller, tank at the lfs.
