Sorry wifey...I NEEDED it...

That is the plan. My first tank was pretty awesome, but this time it's going to another level. This time I will have a fish room too, so the options are going to be significantly larger...

This was the first fish tank of any kind...started back in 2005. 75g

Nice!

That is amazing that, this is your first tank. Again well done. I look forward to the progress.

That tank was taken down in 2008, so i have been jonsin to get back into the hobby for years. Ive just had other priorities and expenses to deal with. What made me pull the trigger now is i just moved to a new house in Atlanta. Tons of amazing LFSs here, and my new house/job made for much better opportunities to put a new tank in.

The biggest crossroads I am at right now is to put the tank on my main level, or put it in my basement. I am a little worried about the 2000+ lbs on my floor joists without the ability to add bracing under the tank. Even though the tank would be next to a load bearing wall, I am still nervous.

Hahhahahahahah...naw she's aware. I don't think she is quite aware of how much this entire project will run but she will love it when it's done :). I just need to let her pick some stuff out...then it's not just my project
You are a smart man

Have you talked to the builder? Maybe they can suggest away to brace or straighten the floor. If the basement is finish, I would understand why it could not be braised and then your option is basement build.

To say I have tank "Blue Balls" would be an understatement. It was supposed to ship out last Monday and arrive early next week. It looks like its going to sit in the crate at the manf until mid July now because I will be out of town from June 25th - July 9th, and I obviously need to be here to accept shipment. I just wanted to see the dang thing in person before I leave......i guess this is what you have to accept when you order custom items. If there is anything this hobby teaches you its patience!

Yeah, I contacted the builder, that dude was zero help. He built the house back in 98, so he vaguely remembered the structure. Ive contacted a couple architects informally, and none were really willing to give me any sort of help without charging me a few hundred to just come out and take a look. A basement build would solve a lot of issues (one being head pressure on my return pump), and I do have a very nice finished basement, but I did kinda want the tank on my main level where we tend to occupy more often than the lower level.

Decisions decisions....

Shipper picked up my tank today....Unfortunately I dont think its going to make it here by Friday, and I am taking a vacation for the 4th of July. Looks like I wont get to see her until the 11th....this may be the first vacation where I am itching to get home from the start lol

When I said I had more goodies, I wasn't lying :).

40br with about 75lbs of mixed live/Marco rocks curing/seeding. I've got another 75lbs of Dry Marco rocks that I will prob start seeding soon as well. You may also notice I've got an Apex with a DIY topoff fromAutotopoff.com as well.

I also converted an old 10" DI resin housing into a carbon/GFO reactor. I had to drill out the 1/4" fittings and put 1/2" barb fittings in instead. The water was tick yellow from the curing rock, so I figured testing the reactor with some BRS ROX carbon was in order. It was crystal clear within 24hrs..... [emoji1]
