Sounds of the reef

I was feeding some phytoplankton to my tank tonight. The house was quiet and all the pumps and power heads were off. I kept hearing a noise coming from the tank. After several minutes, I was finally about to identify the source. It was...my snails!

If you listen closely, you can hear two different snails chomping down...


So, does anyone else’s tank inhabitants make noises?!?!

Echo the sound of snails..... Sorry Simon and Garfunkel comes to mind .

And yes many reef inverts and fish make noises, for many reasons The reef is an very auditable place.

A real reef is actually very noisy with clicks and poping sounds.

My CBB makes a metallic chattering noise when he grabs a big piece of food and chomps it down. Was very surprising when I first heard it. It's about as loud as my pistol shrimp but like a machine gun.
