Hi all -

I'm looking to see if anyone in southwest Florida has had luck with sourcing Chloroquine phosphate from a local compounding pharmacy, etc.... looks like the online sites have pulled it due to updated FDA guidance.

Thanks,
Ryan

Public aquariums can’t get it in bulk either. I would imagine with a prescription you could get it from a compounding pharmacy like Diamondback?

Diamondback was absorbed by Wedgewood a year or so ago. At the time I had a script for powdered CP with Diamondback. Wedgwood did not carry CP in powder form and I was told I needed a new script if I wanted it in pill form. While I’ve used it in pill form before, I much preferred the powder so I never returned to Wedgwood for CP.

Yes, i'm hoping that a compounding pharmacy would carry it... i'm trying to find a vet that will write a prescription... seems like all of the specality vets that i've called within a 3 hour drive from me don't serve acquarium fish.. when you got a prescription, did you just get it from a doctor instead?

I've had the same vet for 24 years. We have a very good relationship. He's actually been to my house and seen some of my tanks. So I just had to give him information on the fish and he wrote the script. Two actually. Most vets that work with fish still have/want to see the fish in person which is complicated as we all know. I would hope a video and pics would suffice. Incidentally, my first script was sent to a regular pharmacy (Osco) and was in pill form. The pills worked but they have to be crushed finely and weighed to confirm how much binder was part of the pill. And you have to use the whole pill at once because you cant separate the binder from the drug to mix up smaller portions for water changes.
