Hello Guys,
I joined a year or so ago, in an effort to solve a couple of specific issues I was facing with my tank at the time, and recently I received an invite to post on the Meet and Greet Forum, which I had forgotten to do.
I live in Guadalajara, Mexico. Been in the hobby for about 32 years at this point, although I was out of the hobby when I went to university, and for a couple of years when I did not have a permanent home. I have to say, I'm really impressed with how the hobby has advanced. Some things are the same, like protein skimmers etc, but I could not believe all the stuff that is now available as far as controllers and the use of bacteria.
The other thing is back when I started, I basically had tropical fish hobbyst magazine, and that was basically it as far as sources of information. These days, I hear guys like Marc Levensen each week, sharing his thoughts for about 3 hours each week. Plus several other youtubers and companies sharing lots of information. People outside the hobby don't get me when I tell them the amount of information has really changed.
Anyway, glad to be in the hobby. Currently I have a 150g tank, with some LPS and some Zoa's. Strugling with Aipstasia, like I've been for most of my life. Been wanting to buy 10 peppermint shrimp to take care of business, but the past 6 months have been difficult as far as getting livestock over here...
