BOUGHT THIS PAIR FEW DAYS AGO AS SOUTHERN AUSSIE'S...ANYBODY KNOW ANY DIFF? IF YA DO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW CORRECT NAME..TIA

They kinda look like Amphiprion chrysogaster or Amphiprion polymnus........They also look like what people call melanistic color or extreme dark color pattern that isn't typical of the species......Very cool looking fish.....Try looking up the ones I posted and I am sure you will find something that looks similar....The second bar is a telling sign of polymnus but could also be a natural misbarring of another species as well so it is hard to say.

Look maybe like juvi Allardi clowns.

I thought that to...But wasn't sure if the second bar completes as they age or if it might be a misbar or not.......Could possiably be a hybrid as well but not sure if the 2 species have any area where they overlap.

I'm no clown guru either. I just started going to my sources to find something similar. Whatever they are, they are really cool looking.

Well, how much did you pay?You dont have to tell me just woundering. These fish you have are not what anyone has said they are, these fish are called Latz clownfish. They sell for about $399-$1,000 a pair.Your look captive rasied.

You know, I was thinking maybe Latz too. You just rarely see juvis so I had nothing to compare to. You are the expert Clowns!

I doubt they are captive raised since there are only 2 known places to get captive raised from what I could find on the internet with Dr. Fosters and Smith being one of them and Bluezoo Aquatics has a video of a pair mating posted on their site could be a couple more now since F&S started....Not to mention the second band looks nothing like a Latz unless it is a misbar or juvi and fills in with age, which I couldn't find that info I didn't consider them.....

that looks like latz to me when i googled..i didnt pay that much..lol

Well if they are Latz....NICE SCORE! I love rare fish, just can't afford them. There will be no doubt if they are Latz as they get older. You may want to check with clowns101 as I believe the Latz is a sub-tropic clown from around Lord Howe island off the south-east coast of Australia and prefer a cooler temp.

thanks..if my bud still has a few pairs left, being you are in md, i could hook you up!!lmk and i will check

I thought they kinda looked like latz. I'm slow to say it though - they don't show up often and they're always interesting. It's like a platinum/snowflake mislabel via Petco lol.

No.I know of quite a few places who gets them.Their is actully a comercial breeder in the U.S who is breeding them. These fish are juvis and Im pretty sur they are captive.Ive never seen a wild Latz with mis-bars.The bars will not fill in with age.Im 95% sure these fish are captive.

Dude! I would love to but I've got a mated pair of percs in one tank and a real nasty pair of mated tomato clowns in the other. Im going to most likely have to take my tomatoes to a foster home once I get the 180 set up. I'd be sick if something happened to a Latz pair or any of my clowns. Thanks a bunch though!
