Space Invader Favia...

I have yet to see one that mimics the invader favia, but I have seen a favia on ebay listed as a space invader favia, kind of a drab greenish brown with yellow, dark purple and blackish streaks. Looked like a piece with huge potential.

I've seen some close looking ones. But its hard to tell in the pictures if they have that glitter look to them. Now theres a chalice named space invader. They will put that name on a frogspawn or zoa, to sell it,$$$$$$$.

mine is call ectoplasm since it is vibrant yellow like the space invader

Wow this is great. thanks folks. i may have found someting close to it the other week at a local frag swap. will post a pic later tonight.

The space invader chalice really does look like the pectina minus the branching.

That looks like a gonistrea i have. When i got it it was called GI joe goniastrea because it is more of an army green. It does not have same green coloring as the pectinia. It is green and yellow. But the intense sparkle effect is not there.

I have seen some true favia and favites with a sparkling effect. The effect was only around the eye area and not the entire piece. A favite may come closer than that goniastrea does.

Thats definately a goni and it is called gi joe

Quite possibly a goni of some species. It was the closes type that I had that resembled the SIP. This one I got from AquaSD and is neon green with yellow polyps. I thought the GI Joe was army green with white polyps.

I have seen both of those descriptions you are stating called GI Joe goni

+1 have seen the cream colored with that name as well. I think it is like war corals. Any army green favia type is labeled GI joe. Now they may feel it is time to relabel them. To get them to sell better or at a higher price.

A favia with the glittering green would be more deserving of the SI name than a neon green without glitter. Since that effect is a strong point. The chalice called SI is close since it is a mycedium. And most mycediums do have that glitter effect or at least a metallic overlay. JF sunny side mycedium to me looks like what they are no calling space invader chalice. But many mycediums look alike.

This favia was from a while back that maybe gives the OP a better example of what might still be out there. I received this one from a guy back in 2010. This is the pic from the thread that I bought the coral in.
