This morning, the tip of a stalk on a recently acquired pectinia colony appears to have broken off and is hanging down. There's some coral flesh holding it on but it's swaying in the current and I expect it won't last this way. Is this self-fragging or did it somehow take damage overnight? Assuming it detaches, set up the tip somewhere and see how it does? Thanks!

yes ,most likely broken by fish, let fall or frag ,start a 2nd colony... :)

edit: you got a full shot of colony ? looks pretty big... ;)

Yes, it's about 9" by 8"- had to move some rockwork to squeeze it in but my wife insisted. :)

Awesome coral and want this to be my next piece. How has care been for it? Do you plan to leave it on the sand bed?
