I have a question how big the polyps are of Space Monster I have them and they are not bigger than a 1/4" are they get bigger when older or this type is small?

Mine are about 1/2". They are probably average sized for a paly. perhaps a touch on the small side of the spectrum?

I'm wondering when are older the will be bigger or that is actual size.Is the name between Tyree and regular Space M has to do how big they gonna be .

IMO size of the polyp is strongly influenced by how much light and flow the polyps receive.

IMO regular target feeding and light are the strongest factors influencing size....Flow has proven to be more influential to the length of skirt but it may help increase polyp size as well...there are a bunch of 1watt Chinese LED fixtures out there that don't do a very good job at giving your corals what they need to thrive...If you have a low powered fixture it may help to reduce the distance from the coral to the fixture

Space Monsters are Space Monsters. While they were not named until Tyree released a polyp, all Space Monsters have the same origion. As someone already pointed out, they are sometimes confused with Strawberry Wines, which some people have tried to claim are the same polyp. In fact, when Space Monsters first hit the market, I believe that a number of people started calling their Strawberry Wines Space Monsters in order to cash in, this only added to the confusion.

lights, food and water quality influence the size and I would also add salt mix. My polyps have grown in size since I switched to IO Reef Crystal. They are huge! I have zoanthids the size of a quarter :)

My eye of rae are about 1/2" and they are supposed to be small polyps. I don't see size difference in my tank from the flow since I have them in practically no flow to high flow and they are the same size in either. In my tank, the salt mix is what had the most influence on size. Food has the more influence on multiplication and flow as the most influence on the general healthy of the polyps but from what I could see it is the factor that has the least influence in my tank. Light is helping them color up better (MH) and getting shorter or longer. I think a salt that is rich in trace element help them get healthy and large. Regular feeding too help. I feed my paly with cyclop and my zoanthids with Chromaplex.

Do you have pics of your space monsters?

Really? Not to be negative, but I see this posted all the time ~ please be so kind as to post a shot of your zoanthids next to a quarter. I'd truly love to see pictures of any quarter-sized zoanthids. There are some grandis palys that get that large or larger, but I've never seen zoanthids larger than about the size of a dime.

There is not much room to put a quarter beside that colony and take a pic but I can try. The colony is attached to a piece of liverock that cannot be moved (attached with tie wrap). And so there is no confusion I was talking about the whole polyp, skirt included, not just the center disk.

You should only ask Moderators to close threads for more important reasons than just getting the answer you want. Good examples would be a sale thread where everything is sold, a thread where the conversations has gone way off topic, or something along those lines. Just because you got the answer you were looking for, doesn't mean that others don't have more to contribute or gain from continuing the discussion.
