spaghetti/Hair worm explosion

Lately I have had a large increase in the population and numbers of spaghetti worms. Could this be an indication of over feeding?

All those critters booms depend on food to maintain the explosion.

Yeah, this is the thing. I have has somewhat elevated phosphate compared to my baseline of almost zero, but it is still super low. That said, I do have some hair algae which might suck up that phosphate as well.
My only assumption is that I am over feeding and thus the spaghetti worm explosion?
